Bukit Lawang

What is Bukit Lawang ? Bukit Lawang is the name of a small village situated at Gunung Leuser National Park. It is at the end road of Bohorok in Langkat District in North Sumatera, Indonesia. The name Bukit Lawang is taken from the Javanese language. Bukit means Hill and Lawang means Door. So Bukit Lawang basically means Door to the Hill. Rehabilitation for the orangutans are currently being done at Bukit Lawang.

Other wildlife such as the Sumatran Tiger, Sumatran Rhinos and several others that are facing extinction are also included. Bukit Lawang is a small village in Bohorok in Langkat North Sumatera Indonesia. Activities such as jungle trekking, overnight camping by the river side in the jungle, traditional river rafting are some of the attractions that are popular and are being sought after by many foreign and local tourists. A visit to Bukit Lawang will certainly gives a very good educational and memorable experience.
